Lawrence Berkeley Labs hires McQuillen Interactive
October 15, 2008 -- Santa Cruz
Renowned research institution Lawrence Berkeley National Labs recently hired McQuillen Interactive to produce custom software for their Building Technologies Group. We're working together with top building scientists to create software for designing energy-efficient buildings.
As the key designer and developer on the team, McQuillen Interactive furthers its goal of becoming a trusted resource in the world of energy-efficiency software and green building technologies. We'll be using our top-notch skills in user interface design, usability analysis, software design and Adobe Flex programming.
MotionStrand Touchscreen for ALoft Hotels
Sept 30, 2008 -- Santa Cruz
McQuillen Interactive recently teamed up with Flash design studio MotionStrand to produce a touchscreen kiosk for ALoft Hotels. The touchscreen is live in the Arkansas-based ALoft hotel lobby, helping customers access weather, flight and attraction information.
We used Adobe AIR, Flex, AS3.0 and Cairngorm to build the touchscreen application, integrating ALoft's design and content and communicating with various web services. In addition to making the whole thing "go," we tied in an XML feed of local airport flight information from FlightStats, an interactive map with local points of interest, an up-to-date weather forecast screen, and a custom CMS created by ALoft.
Learn HVAC

Joe Deringer of SU-PER-B presented the current state of the Learn HVAC project to the participants of the SimBuild 2008 conference last week in Berkeley. Interest was high and the audience seemed to really like the application. We plan on releasing a new client in a few weeks.
